President's Day Crawl - Feb - 16th

Baltimore Bar Crawl's second offical crawl. 9 8 bars, all with drink specials for crawlers. Meet at the Dog Pub at 5pm to receive your offical pin for use at all other bars on the crawl. Admission in the crawl is totally free, bring all your friends and your camera for a night on the town, and enjoy all the reduced drink speicals brought to you by us and the fine establishments we visit.

President's Day Crawl 2008:

Over all a fantastic night. Our thanks go out to all of our crawlers, as well as all of the employees and management of each of the bars we visited. It's really you guys who made this night amazing. Here's how the night went:

5 p.m. - As scheduled most of our group met at the Dog Pub. We set up at a table in the back, so admittedly we were a little hard to find, but we managed to corral everyone who wanted to come with us on the crawl fairly effectively. For the hour we stayed, we enjoyed the Microbrews that the Dog Pub Offers, each one served by the smiling staff despite the considerable strain our numbers must have put on the crew there. My hat is off to them for being such good sports, as I know that having to serve at least 45 people as soon as you open your doors can be tough. With our numbers even higher then we had hoped for everyone had a great time. The Dog Pub really got the crawl off to a great start.

6 p.m. - Our candidate for the Failure of the Night award appeared: Big Kahuna... Closed. After being promised some of the most exciting drink specials, every bar crawler looked forward to Big Kahuna, and every heart sank with the news that it was closed.

Fortunately for the Crawl, Howl at the Moon was ready to step up an hour early and let us hang out until our scheduled time. As always, the dueling pianos put on an amazing show, keeping the crowd involved and engaged, always making sure to dish out some pretty healthy doses of embarrassment. I know that at least both Crawlmasters got it pretty good, along with some fellow crawlers. As always with Howl at the Moon the service was fantastic. Everyone enjoyed getting their two $1 drinks, and I saw a few crawlers who had ordered the "buckets of booze." With the high energy that Howl at the Moon provided I think everyone managed to forget about the long walk from Federal Hill all the way to Power Plant Live. Howl at the Moon delivered a solid experience.

8 p.m. - After a short walk from Howl at the Moon we arrived at The Lodge Bar. The night was still young, so When we got there there were only a few people sitting around the bar. It was this point when we had the most crawlers, and as a result the bar was really livened up by us. We soon found out that they were running an unrelated special: 2 for 1 drinks. The staff was great and let the crawlers pick which special they preferred. Beer pong tables were set up in the back, so naturally games started. The DJ kept the atmosphere feeling like a party, and the staff managed to keep drinks in everyone's hands. The Lodge Bar showed us a great time, fulfilling everything it promised and more.

9 p.m. - From the Lodge Bar we headed to Mex Baltimore, another of Power Plant Live's gems. Mex was one of the most prepared bars of the night. Their entire staff seemed to be expecting us, and knew the specials that were set up. Most of our crawlers hit the dance floor, and some of our more adventurous crawlers worked the pole, while others stayed by the bar, hanging out and having a great time. Some of us even ordered food, which was reportedly fantastic. Mex really got people out of their seats and onto the floor, getting the Crawl to an energetic level.

10 p.m. - Still in Power Plant Live, we made our way around to Angels Rock Bar. After a quick talk with the bouncers, everyone was let in via the VIP side door, which was just yet another small touch that made the Crawl great. The active DJ and lack of seating kept everyone on their feet, but honestly, in a place like Angel's Rock Bar, there's no need to sit down. As a bar that is used to large crowds and heavy drink demands, the staff easily kept up with the new numbers of the crawlers. Angel's Rock Bar kicked some serious ass.

11 p.m. - After a such great time in a few of the bars in Power Plant Live, we made our way back toward the Harbor, and made Tir Na Nog our next stop. The drink deals here were great - if you could manage to get them. Everyone found themselves constantly reminding the bartenders who we were with, despite the fact that we filled up their back room. Although it was a Saturday night, Tir Na Nog seemed to be understaffed, making it pretty tough to get a drink. After the frenetic pace of the last couple of stops, quite a few crawlers decided to call it a night here. I know that Tir Na Nog has some great bartenders and servers, but I'm not sure where there were that night.

12 a.m. - A little disappointed in what I know as a good place despite the bad showing, we started back to Federal Hill. When we got to No Way José everyone was getting a little tired, but the strong pushed on. We filled their upstairs room and many crawlers went to get margaritas. I was happy to see the staff here was excellent. Everyone got their drinks quickly and enjoyed the Southwestern decor, with many hanging out in their spacious upstairs rooms.

1 a.m. - Just a block away from No Way José was Drifter's. After a night of solid drinking, I decided to lead the way ... after a few discussions, and several wrong turns we made it. Drifter's helped us end the night right. Crawlers got their last call here, and was a great end to great night. With a long day of drinking behind us, the Crawl came to a close, and we disbanded and went our separate ways, with everybody looking forward to the next Baltimore Bar Crawl.
